AutoCAD 2007 to 2016

I would like to find out how to set up a workspace that looks more like the one I would like to transition from. Using trial version of 2016LT for Mac. I think the workspace environment I want is called "classic". None of the Knowledge Network instructions offer a way to do this. As a matter of fact there are instructions (eg. righclick in modelspace to get "options") that simply do not exist when I try to follow them. I'm not used to working with floating command islands (other than in Photoshop and other adobe products) and want to see tabs of paperspace sheets along the bootom of my drawing workspace environment. 

Thank you for any input that does not lead me to the Knowledge Network - I've spent an hour or two trying to find a way to get to classic (basically just want to start using this software without hurdles, explore as I need)

Hi,

AutoCAD for Mac has it's own user interface and you cannot make it look like AutoCAD for Windows :

Sounds like you need to buy a Windows PC instead.

....or run it in a virtual windows machine or bootcamp on your Mac.

Hi Tanuki10,

As mentioned in other posts, a "Classic" mode is not really possible on the Mac versions of AutoCAD.  The software was created to emualte the Mac experience that other Mac programs have. With that said, if you really want a Windows interface, then perhaps you should run a Windows version in Bootcamp (A Windows partition that coexists on your Mac).

You also asked for links for information (non-AKN) so I have provided one here. Lynn Allen walks through the features and interface of AutoCAD for Mac. There are numerous videos here that might help you to embrace the software design.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. Buying a PC is not really a good solution for us and we are working working through the interface change. The other posts have some helpful insights.
