Auto cad 2017 for Mac high Sierra launch slow

Hi,I have intall the R2 version for high sierra. The problem is when I launch CAD, it will take more than 3 minutes, but after I launch it, when I open a big CAD file, it is very fast. A360 also does not work, so I uninstall it. But the problem still exist.

Can you help me to figure out the problem?

Hi @Anonymous,

When you launch AutoCAD 2017.2, what other applications do you have running?  I know that mine seems to be a bit slow to open too but certainly not 3 minutes. Can you share some information on your hardware configuration and on the type of Internet connection you are using? I am curious to see if this is a license checking issue.

Hi,
I do not have other applications to run at the same time, I just open CAD after my restart.

The configuration information:
Model Name: MacBook
Model Identifier: MacBook10,1
Processor Name: Intel Core m3
Processor Speed: 1.2 GHz
Number of Processors: 1
Total Number of Cores: 2
L2 Cache (per Core): 256 KB
L3 Cache: 4 MB
Memory: 8 GB
Boot ROM Version: MB101.0154.B00
SMC Version (system): 2.42f10
Serial Number (system): C02V30M4HH23
Hardware UUID: 9F2773D0-C844-5795-829A-AD49E88C1AB8

Internet connection is wifi, I have used CAD2014 before, it is very fast, but this time, it is really slow, when I updated the high Sierra.
However, when it is launched, it is still fast to open a file like 13 MB, I think maybe it is a license checking issue. How to figure it out.

Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for the information.  I am guessing that slow startup is due to your processor speed.  I watched Activity Monitor while I launched my AutoCAD for Mac 2017 and for a brief time it utilizes about 83% CPU. This seems to take approx. 10 seconds.  If your processor is that much slower it might explain the slow start up.  Can you try the same process and see what it looks like on your Mac?

It does seem that when looking at the system requirements, that your Mac is a bit underpowered.

Hi,

I try the same process, but it is so strange to me that CAD only take about 0.3% cpu. Startup is quick, but when I click the file which I want to open, it become no reaction and waiting about 3 minute, and during that time only 1.3% cpu is used. What is the problem? So curious.

Hi @Anonymous,

Can you please check your disk space and health (First Aid) using the disk utility? Please let me know what you find there.

Now, I reopen cad, it shows CAD no respond. My disk space is still 184GB free. And I have used first aid, everything is ok.

Hi @Anonymous,

Could you please catch a sample file when AutoCAD no respond or taking too long to startup/open a file?

To catch the sample file, please do the following:

1. Open Activity Montior

2. find AutoCAD process in the Activity Monitor, and double click it. In the popup dialog, click the Sample button and save the sample file.

Then, please send the sample file to me at: [email protected]

Thanks,
Wei

Hi @Anonymous,

Please try this if you are still having this issue:

  • Quit AutoCAD
  • Open the Terminal window, and run the following script (you can copy and paste it in terminal and hit Enter):

scutil --set HostName $(scutil --get LocalHostName)

  • Input admin password if it asks for permission.

Please let me know the results.

I am sorry to bother you again, after I input the script, it become normal. But today it slows again, even I restart my computer and run the script again, it is as before, very slow. Do you have other solution?

Thank you.

Hi @Anonymous,

Is it possible to provide the sample file suggested by @wei503 in post 8? That might help to determine what is causing this slow down.

From the sample, it seems that the slowness happens when AutoCAD checks the sign in account with backend server.

Could you please try the following:

1. Sign out and quit AutoCAD.

2. Force quit the AdSSO-v2 process from activity monitor

3. start AutoCAD and sign in

If it does not work, please try to get another sample file when AutoCAD hangs at startup, for the AdSSO-v2 process.

Thanks,
Wei

Hi,

It seems like the problem still exist, I force quit the AdSSO-v2k, and it automatically start again each time after I terminate it.

Attached is the sample

Thank you.
