Wire Number change at Wire Tee

Wire Number change at Wire Tee

We have several customers asking to be able to change the wire number after a Wire Tee. At the moment wire tee's do not change the wire number. Changing the name of the wire tee block definitions in your library (from HT0... to HT???) does not work because AutoCAD electrical only looks for the respective HT0... blocks when automatically placing wire tees.

The ideal solution would be that there is an option in the project settings to enable this different numbering scheme. In the background this would just cause the program to look for and insert different blocks which can be provided through the regular libraries.

At the moment there is no clear workaround workflow available , and we have several clients manually adding fake numbering before printing. This completely negates the advantages of having automatic numbering workflows, and invites errors with the creation of 'duplicate' wire numbers.

I've been asking for this since Autodesk bought Via Wire and branded it AutoCAD Electrical (in 2003). It's just not going to happen.

The only way around this is to enable "On per wire basis" in the project properties, and draw wires like this:

And, this is just ONE more of the reasons why I abandoned AutoCAD Electrical.

Don't be sad. Just don't look at what other programs can do. You know, basic things like this. Then, you are a happy AcadE user! 🤣
