Terminal Reassignment

Terminal Reassignment

While we can go into the TSE to reassign terminals to another terminal strip, we have to do this one by one if we do this within the schematic.

This is normally done by editing each terminal and then changing the Terminal Strip Assignment.

For one or two terminals, this is fine, however when you have to change a lot of terminals, it can be time consuming.

What is needed is a tool where we can select terminals (by block name/type, INST/LOC or individually) and then reassign all the selected terminals in one go. That could be to a new terminal strip ID or a pre-existing one. If using the block name/type or the INST/LOC selection method, it could also be used over the entire project.

The main reason I can see for not using the TSE to do this is that if you are reassigning multiple terminals that are scattered through the strip, you have to remember/write down either the terminal number or the wire number for the terminals to be re-assigned. Doing the re-assignment within the schematic will also remove several steps in using the TSE and speed up the process.
