I am posting here after having a discussion on this topic in Forums recently. The topic we were discussing was how to increment specific digits in alphanumeric terminal numbers. Let's say I use the AEMULTI tool for adding 10 terminals on to a ladder. I name the first one 1A, and I want the rest to be named 2A, 3A, 4A...and so on.
Currently, ACADE only increments the last character. So, if I name my first terminal 1A, the remaining terminals will be named 1B, 1C, 1D...and so on. In other words, users don't get to choose which digit to increment. I think ACADE should include this functionality in its later versions; allowing users the flexibility to name their terminals (or any component) the way they want to. This could be particularly handy when you are making drawings for panels with lots of components and terminal blocks, and you want to organize your numbering pattern.
With my panel layout, all the terminals with an A suffix (for example 1A) implied that this is 120V hot supplying power out to a switch; all the terminals with a B suffix implied that this is the signal coming back from the switch and going in to the I/O module (for example 1B). This would make it easier for the electrician troubleshooting the panel.
