Search entire catalog database
It would be nice to have the search from AutoCAD Electrical 2012 back. We use this in our company all the time to search the entire database for a catalog number.
We "upgraded" to Electrical 2016, which for the most part was not that different but it had some cool features and worked out some bugs, but when it came to the search catalog database a few of us were about to cry when it was for sure gone. Bringing that feature back would be great!
This function is greatly missed by many of our users, it seems the duplicate catalog entries mainly come up in the Motor Starter or Control Relay tables for us.
I agree with all of the above responses. While there are already several categories in the catalog database, there are still plenty of opportunities to question into which category a specific item should be placed. As a result we get duplicate entries all of the time.
One of the top voted ideas in the AutoCAD Electrical Ideastation is now available in AutoCAD Electrical 2021. With the Global Search functionality, the Catalog Browser can now search for catalog data (CATALOG, MANUFACTURER and ASSEMBLYCODE) across the tables.
Note: Sub-assembly items, as defined by an ASSEMBLYLIST value, are included in the search results. The global search results are based from the Catalog, Manufacturer, and Assembly Code column records.
