Remember Previous Wire Size

Remember Previous Wire Size

Could we have Autocad Electrical remember the size of the last wire added, even when you navigate across different sheets in the project, so that you don't have to keep changing it when you navigate to the next sheet along?

Whenever I change pages it seems to have a "default" set on the page but this is invariably the one I last used on the previous page so I end up changing it constantly.

The wire size is derived from the current active Layer of the active drawing. So when you switch drawings, the active layer of the "new" drawing will be where all new wires are drawn on that drawing.

So what you are asking for is to have the current layer of the active drawing affect the current layer of the next drawing you switch to (which could be from Prev/Next or by clicking on the tab at the top).

This might be difficult to implement....

I could be wrong but I thought the best practice was to leave the default layer as 0.  If this is the case, the wire sizes will always default to 'a default size' but what is that size?  There must be a way to determine which wire size corresponds to layer 0 so I would hope Autodesk can modify this to correspond to the last size used????

I would think that the default layer would be a wire layer.

The default Wire type is set from within the "Create/Edit Wire type."(mine is currently set to "Wires") This wiretype is used if the current layer is not one of the identified wiretypes (there could be several on the drawing).

In practice, there is no real default wiretype since, as the designer, you can select different wires for the different functions. (I personally use ~25 different wire types.) So as I mentioned before, whatever the current layer is for a given drawing will determine what the wire size will be.
