Pline Wires

Pline Wires

The way ACADE works, a smart block is created and inserted into a drawing. If it is a schematic drawings most symbols are inserted onto a wire.

For SL and 3L drawings, in order to be able to insert a switch or a transformer on a bus, the bus has to be a smart wire.

On our present dumb drawings (SL and 3L) we use PLINE's for our bus. Different voltages on the bus are represented with different line thicknesses. Right now ACADE doesn't support making a wire a different line thickness without turning the line weights on.

I would suggest creating PLINE WIRES so that we can simply insert blocks onto a wire that has the proper wire name and line thickness.

If PLINE WIRES were available for use we wouldn't have to modify the wire width itself and turn on line weights to see them.

Subsequently, there is a limited number of line width selections ACADE provides and with PLINE's they are infinite.

This will also give us the ability to use move component, toggle symbol, and other features that make symbol manipulation so great in ACADE.

Thanks,

Great!!

There is an easy solution to your problem.

Make several new wire layers and then change the colours and line width of the new wire layers.

Make sure to use the Wire Layer Definition tool to let ACADE know they are wire layers.

The colours to make obvious on screen as to which layer you are using and the line width for printing.

If you set the layer line width to the same as your previous polyline for that type of wire, you shouldn't have any problems in the workshop.

I have quite a few wire layers that have different colours that are defined by their function so that I can identify them on screen at a glance.

They also have different widths to show wire/bus sizes when printed.

Thanks for the reply Icemanau.

I did mention that that is the way we are doing it now. However polylines give you infinite line width options as opposed to the limited options you have in the properties dropdown menu.

We have a line thickness that is 3.175 and a nother that is 2.34 and the line width options only go up to 2.11.
