Panel Layout & Footprints

Panel Layout & Footprints

It is possible to do place multiple footprints in one step; but it is necessary to know the dimension of the components; moreover placing different footprints is not possible if they have different dimensions; adding and evaluation the dimension (X, Y, Z) in the catalog database could be a great help.

... and a footprint should 'snap' on the DIN rail.

... and multiple footprints for a component - e.g. front view, side view, etc.

What would be even more magical is if the software could detect the horizontal or vertical width of a footprint and just insert each device, left-to-right, or top-to-bottom, without the need for a specific X or Y uniform spacing value, similar to how the Terminal Strip Editor does it now.

what would also needed to be taken into consideration is minium air gap between placemennts some equipment needs to have a gap all aound the device so another value may need to be added somehing like "minimium space between items"

If "minimum gap" is implemented in the catalog data, it should be able to handle a negative value. This would enable "stuff that is plugged onto other stuff" to work.

Status changed to: Future Consideration

Thank you guys, it is indeed an awesome idea. We are looking in to this and will try to do it with other 2D panel refinements. We shall keep this idea for consideration for future releases.
