NEW IDEA FOR AUTOCAD AND AUTOCAD MECAHNICAL: BLOCK COLOUR EDITING

NEW IDEA FOR AUTOCAD AND AUTOCAD MECAHNICAL: BLOCK COLOUR EDITING

Hi there

Firstly i think that this is so awesome that im able to post ideas, which could be considered in future releases

Secondly, in the category selection above, there is no ACad Mechanical..this is what i am using. Ragardless, i think my idea below should be applied to all platforms..

My Problem:

I need to start by saying that ive been using CAD for 12 years, and am  quite familiar with most of the functionality. i understand how changinf layers, and using the Bylayer and Byblock works. Quite cool. But i think that it should be taken a step further.

Let me make an example:

I have created a block, of a door(for example). The nice colours, are brown, and red etc....

When i copy this block, i now want to have this door in a different colour, so all the entities need to be backround, in my case, grey. The steps i would need to follow is having to go inside the block, changing all my colours to ByBlock. Saving the block,  changing the block colour, and viola!! Its all grey. My problem is that all the other blocsk with the same name, do the same thing. Now i know that  i have the option of changing the block name, but i do not want to have to do this. I need to keep the same block name, for easy of changing block details in the future...

What i suggest is that if i cahnge the colour of the block, it should overright the colour of the entities within the block. If i need to revert back to the entities of the items in the block, i just change colour of block back to ByLayer.

I hope that i have made myself clear in this above example. I could try and elaborate further if needs be. Please advise...

PS, please ask your developers to add a plug in where it 'upercases' the start of a new sentence.  typing this out was a mission.

regards

the Caddy Master..
