Multiple Schematic Representation

Multiple Schematic Representation

Would be grat to have access to more than just one schematic representation of an element in my project.

For example on one schematic drawing I have an element. On the next schematic drawing I would like to place the same element(onother instance of the first) but in much more detail.

Bottom line:

Iit can be a Push Button, Relay, Terminal point, etc. Most important thing is that the TAG updates to the same value on both drawings after using project wide updates.

Maybe I don't understand, but can't you just duplicate the Tag between elements?  Or are you looking more for a child/parent relationship?

How can you duplicate the TAG between elements?

Just put in the same tag name (make sure if your using installation and location, they match as well).  When I inserted a parent component, say a prox and put in a second, gave it the same name it duplicated the properties over.  That may not be what you want, but you can have a basic symbol then a detailed symbol and accomplish the same thing.  The detailed symbol may have additional fields not present in the basic.  I did not modify autocad settings from out of the box, so it should work for you unless you changed something.

Hopefully that helps.

What about if I use Project wide update tools later?

But to clarify I'll use a real example:

  1. I have a project with over 300 drawings.
  2. On drawing 20 I have a 2 core shielded cable represented by 3 lines and marked with "Cable Makers" as one parent and 2 child(with catalog information).
  3. This cable goes over few drawings and on drawing 210 I would like to have information that these 3 lines are representing a cable on drawing 20 (it is it's continuation). Hence I would like to place 3 "Cable Makers" that are linked to the 3 "Cable Makers" on drawing 20.
  4. Now considering that this is a large project every now and then I will have to run "Project-Wide Update or Retag" to make sure everything is linked. So if on drawing 20 my cable gets a new TAG I need the TAGS on drawing 210 to be updated and get the same TAG as on drawing 20.

Hope this makes sense now.
