Presuming there will be a future question of "I removed and deleted a file from my project. How do I get it back???" perhaps a slightly modified process would be in order. Instead of outright deleting the file it is moved to a "Project trash" folder. Then the option would be to empty trash (auto-empty based on file date or folder size, perhaps), and also allow the ability to restore a deleted file from that folder.
I would have to agree with the trash option. I could see deleted files becoming a nightmare with new users that have not used the electrical interface much. I think we have all experienced the nightmare of accidentally deleted or modified files. No one intends to delete or write over the file but it happens. this delete function could cause more problems that if solves in my mind.
I think there should be a prompt with a checkbox to choose to delete the drawing from the project and to delete the file from the drive, or to only delete the drawing from the project. Make the default to remove from project only, but make the checkbox sticky and offer an option to not prompt again. Of course, allow us to go into Options>Hidden Message Settings and turn on the prompt again if we wish.
