Component Update From Footprint

Component Update From Footprint

There is a «Component Update From Catalog» tool.

I suggest adding a «Component Update From Footprint» tool.

What would you want that command to do? Can you give an example?

I ran "Schematic List" and inserted several components, using the footprint_lookup.mdb.

Then I discovered that there was an error in the database footprint_lookup.mdb, so the component images don't match the catalog data.

Now I need to fix the error in the database, delete several components and place them again.

The “Component Update From Footprint” tool allows me to update component images without deleting them in the drawing.

Ahh..... You want to:

  1. Select footprint(s) in a drawing
  2. Read the MFG/CAT/ASSYCODE of the footprint
  3. Read the current block name of the footprint
  4. Compare the current block name against the block name of the MFG/CAT/ASSYCODE from the footprint_lookup database
  5. If the block name is different, do a block swap.

Something like that?

Yes, I think such a procedure would be useful.
