I would like to see AutoDesk AutoCAD get an Avionics and Automotive Package. Avionics and Automotive Design Engineer typically deals with:
- mounting plates with brackets, flanges and tiered boards of various materials that have holes, anchor nuts and bossed grounding points
- cable clamps and cable supports usually to MS/Boeing Specs for aircraft use
- instruments, indicators, lamp holders, switches, light plates, switch guards, relays, resistors, circuit breakers, aircraft/automotive fuses, terminal blocks, splices, terminals
- wiring with spec type imprinted, wiring with wire numbers for identification, bundling materials such as string, plastic cable ties
- wiring connectors with different pin layouts, schematic symbols with variable pin numbers
- equipment with connector schematic representation
Useful functions would be to be able to just alter the pin numbering to suit the job on equipment connectors to avoid schematic wire crossovers where possible. One might go as far as being able to move quipment around which is attached by schematic wiring and have the wiring layout adjust the wiring route subject to contraints line "must pass along this route".
Importantly, we must be able to paste pdf, or jpg, onto the page because this aids in system understanding.
Ideally, within a set of drawings, changes should be reflected to and from master drawings so you dont have to redraw everything.
For wires drawn in wiring diagrams or schematic, one should be able to anchor a label on the electrical wire line. This then avoids the need for a wire number call out. e.g. ------------------W811-21-30-01-001-------------------------
For equipment labels, you need the equipment location, an identifier, a connector number and ability to put text inside the equipment outline e.g. adjacent a connetor pin number like this: 14 Outflow Valve +28VDC
There must be an ability to group and ungroup components, copy and paste and use different line colours.
