Allow users to do things in the Project Manager without having to open a file

The Acad. Electrical Project Manager has this annoying "feature":  Most commands are not active until you open a drawing.

For example:  You must open a drawing in order to delete a drawing.  (It's not as if I need to open the drawing I want to delete to make sure I mean it, I just need to open any random drawing---then I can delete any drawing.)

Please fix this.

While everyone want this, it's almost techincally impossible with most of the code for AutoCAD Elecrtical. Too much functionality id programmed in AutoLISP, and that language in only interpreted in the drawing environment.

Much of the "new" stuff, like the project manager etc. is not LISP, so it'll work outside of the drawing environment.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Autodesk to completely reprogram AutoCAD Electrical.

@rhesusminusThat's fine.  I wonder how long they will wait as I see more and more people moving to other platforms.  As it is we keep getting more frequent inquiries about whether we use Solidworks Electrical.  I checked it out and It's not bad at all.

I was not happy with Solidworks Electrical. It was very difficult to do detail panel views without having to use Solidworks. If you wanted a BOM in you schematics, you had to do it in Solidworks and export it to Excel and then import it into Electrical. Those a re just a couple of things that I found very hard to work with. I rely pretty heavily on Viewports and xrefs to do detailed "zoom-ins" for large panels and this was impossible to do in SWE out of the box.

I was not impressed with Solidworks.  But there are numerous Electrical specific CAD packages out there and they are slowly catching up since AutoCAD is doing nothing with this product.

If even the API worked right and was complete I would be okay.  At least I could automate more of it myself.

Also, if you want to rename a drawing, there must be another drawing opened because an open drawing can't be renamed.
