Wire number uses JIC125 instead of JIC1 symbol

I've been having this issue for quite some time now (since we moved to ACADE 2019) and can't seem to figure out what's causing this.  All my schematic symbols are linked to the JIC1 folder.  When I generate the wire number in the drawing, the  WD_WNH block from the JIC125 directory is used instead (text size is 0.125, instead of 0.1).  I've been using the Update BLock command as a fix.  Ive checked the ".env" file and seems fine.  There is something I'm overlooking.   Please help.  Thanks.

You've already checked your project properties?

Hi

You can delete all wire numbers, then use the PU command to clean up the "WD_WNH" and "WD_WNV" block, and finally add wire numbers.

@PeytonHarriss ,

I believe the my project properties is setup correctly.  Let me know if i'm missing something here.

@chenj ,

Thank you for the response and your work-around solution.  That would be the same effort, if not more, than updating the block (drawing wide).  If you have other solutions, please let me know, thanks.

These are new project/dwgs correct?

have you tried a purge and retag instead of a swapblock?

What happens with an attsync?

@PeytonHarriss ,

Yes these are new drawings.  Most times, we use template drawings, or copy from template drawings to start with.  The template drawing wire numbering and properties are set-up correctly.  However, when we renumber/update the wires with the "Insert Wire Number [AEWIRENO]" command, the new wires will come in with the JIC125 block instead of the JIC1 block.

ACADE uses the same block naming from the JIC1 and JIC125 library.  You can't purge the block because the wire number block resides, and is in-use, in the drawing.

 "attsync" ? not sure what this has to do with the different libraries used.

There are two default wire number block files, "WD_ WNH" and "WD_ WNV", when you update the block, you need to update the two block files respectively.

@chenj ,

Thank you for your help.  Yes, that's what i've been doing as a work around solution.  But that doesn't answer my question of why wire number block is pulling  from JIC125, and not JIC1.

Have you actually opened the two wire number blocks in the JIC1 library on the Q Drive and checked that they are .1 instead of .125?

When you check the library directory for the blocks, are you going to the Q drive or your C drive?

NOTE - When I use the swap block tool, it defaults to my C: drive libraries instead of the cloud based ones specified in the project settings.

@Icemanau ,

Yes, the all the wire number blocks in the JIC1 library are 0.1 (see screen shot below)

My project setting is set to pull blocks from Q drive.  When I use "swap block" command, it defaults to my Q drive.

In your wrong file, try inserting two wire number blocks with the insert block command to see whether the text height is 0.1 or 0.125. If it is correct, it should also be correct when inserting wire numbers. If you still can't solve the problem, can you share your project?

@chenj ,

When inserting the wire number blocks using the "insert block" command, the block is there, but because it's looking for a wire reference, nothing shows up.  I can tell you that when i'm in the block itself, the text are as follows, JIC1 folder text size is = 0.1, and JIC125 is = 0.125.

I believe it's how ACADE brings in the block when I add the wire number(s) using the AEWIRENO command.  For some reason it's inserting the block from the JIC125 folder.

My project setting is set to pull blocks from the JIC1 folder.  This only happens with the wire number blocks (vertical and horizontal).  All other blocks are fine.

Let me know what you need for sharing projects.

On this issue, I consider it as follows:

1. Whether the path setting of schematic library is correct;

2. Whether the modified drawing is in the current active project;

3. Whether the wire number block in the referenced file or template file has been replaced with a new wire number block.

If you use the wire number block of "JIC1" directory to replace the wire number block in the current drawing, and then use the insert wire number tool, is the wire number text height correct?

Because if the wire number block is already in the drawing, the wire number block in the drawing is called first when inserting the wire number. If the wire number block cannot be found in the current drawing, it will find and insert the current drawing in the "JIC1" Library Directory.

@chenj ,

Thank you and i appreciate you looking into this.  Here's my response to your questions.

  1. Whether the path setting of schematic library is correct;  Yes, the path is set to JIC1
  2. Whether the modified drawing is in the current active project; Yes, the drawing is in the Active project.
  3. Whether the wire number block in the referenced file or template file has been replaced with a new wire number block.  The reference/template file utilizes the the WD_WNH wire number block and has not been modified in the drawing file itself.

Yes, the template files already have the wire number block.  When i go to update the wire number, or if i have a new rung, and inserting new wire number, it'll bring it the 0.125 text .  I've tried everything that i can so if you have any other suggestions , please let me know.

hello guys!!

i graduated from the university this summer with a master degree in electromechanical engineering and bachelor degree in electrical engineering and I've been told that i have to get some experience in engineering softwares, the thing is im a bit confused where to start from, water damage ceiling michigan since i wanna do my career in mechanical engineering related fields, so the question is where can i find courses for my case and if there's electrical AutoCAD courses as well it would be even better.
Thank you very much!!

It sounds like the template dwg is the problem.

When you insert a block, ACAD checks the dwg to see if a definition already exists for the block.

If it does, ACAD uses that definition rather than loading it again.

When you delete all the VISIBLE blocks, this definition still exists.

To remove a definition, you need to delete all instances of the block and then purge the dwg to remove the now un-used definition.

To fix your problem, you will need to open the template dwg and update or purge the blocks used for wire numbers before saving it again as a new version of your template.

This should then fix the problem with new drawings going forward.

Existing dwgs will still need to have the blocks updated to fix the problem.

@Icemanau ,

I agree and understand the invisible block definitions and that they still exist even though the block is not in-use and purging will resolve this.  However, the template drawing wire number  text sizes are 0.1, which is correct.  When new rungs/wires are added, the new wire numbers should be 0.1, but it comes in as 0.125.  As previously noted, this issue started when we migrated to ACADE 2019.

It looks like ACADE is inserting the wire number block from the JIC125 library instead of the JIC1 (drawing setting and project setting is set to insert blocks from JIC1 as mentioned previously).

I will try to recreate the template drawings and see if this resolves the issue.
