wire number not showing in wire from-to reports

While working in ACE, I created a template which includes multiple sheets.  I then copies wire diagrams from other drawings, pasted the diagrams into the newly created copy of the template but now when I try to add a wire from-to report, the wire number column does not populate.  All other columns populate (wire type, to, from, etc.) just not the wire number column.  Anybody know what could be going wrong?

You have of course added wire numbers to the drawings?

Yes.  I've created hundreds of point-to-point wire diagrams and I've never see this issue before now.  All my diagrams include wire from-to-reports.  It's just this time I copied a diagram (from a drawing that had properly reported wire numbers in the wire from-to report) but now when pasted into the new drawing with title blocks, the wire number list is blank.  It's as though the link is broken between the report generator and the actual wire numbers assigned to each wire.

This might also be a scaling issue. Have a look at the drawing properties in your new drawing:

My scaling is set the same as yours.  In my hundreds of wire diagrams, I've never had to adjust scaling.

After further though, when you add wire numbers to wires, ACE must have a wire number file associated with the list of wire numbers applied to the wires.  It's as though this wire list file is not being moved with the rest of the wire diagram.  Is there such a file linked to each drawing?

Yes, I can share a partial drawing with you.  See the attachments.

Sample Diagram-1 is a properly working file.  The wire from-to report work fine.

Sample-2 is the drawing I attempted to paste the working drawing into.  But, in this new drawing, the wire from-to report does not include wire numbers.

You can try it yourself.

1)  Highlight and delete the entire diagram in Sample-2

2)  Highlight and copy the entire diagram in Sample-1

3)  Paste diagram from Sample-1 into Sample-2 and then generate a wire from-to report - the wire number column will be blank

Please let me know what you find!

Hmm.. Okay. Where to start...

Let's start with this picture:

2017-12-06_16-18-57.png

See all those white dots? These are fixed wire numbers that are turned off.

Use the AESHOWWIRENO and select wire 307. Then this attribute will be turned on.

As this wire number isn't anywhere near the wire (The two wire numbers that are on the wire are wire number copies), the link between the wire and the wire number goes through XDATA.

Type XDLIST on the command line, select wire 307, and list all data. There, you can see the pointer to the wire number.

On your SAMPLE-2 drawing, all those XDATA's are missing, so AcadE has no idea what wire number that the wires are. The wire number copies won't help unfortunately.

So, that's the problem. How to fix it... I'm not sure. I guess that there might be more to this, as you've removed parts of the drawing.

Baffling.  I'll just re-assign numbers to all the wires (over 300 of them!).

Thank you for helping.   I really appreciate all your help!

Type ATTDISP on the command line, and set it to ON to display all invisible attributes.
Set it back to normal when you've cleaned up your drawing.

You can also try the AEAUDITDWG command to remove wire number floaters.

Thanks to everyone for helping evaluate my issue. But I still have the same problem. Perhaps I didn’t explain the problem good enough so I will try again.
In ACE 2013, I have created many point-to-point wire diagrams. I assigned wire numbers to each wire in the diagram so that ACE can use these wire numbers in wire “to-from” reports. To assign a wire a number, I right-click on the wire, click “wire numbers” and then edit the wire number. I then “copied wire number (inline)” on each end of the wire.
My computer recently got upgraded to ACE 2018. While copying a diagram created in 2013 into 2018, the diagram lost all associativity between the wire and the number that I had assigned to each wire. When I attempt to create a new wire to-from report, the wire number field is blank. When I right-click each wire, the wire number field is blank. However the wire numbers that I copied onto each wire in the diagram remained on the wires.
What is interesting is, when I start re-assigning wire numbers to the wires and I attempt to assign a wire number to a wire that is used more than once in the diagram, I get a message saying I’m assigning a wire number to a wire in the diagram which is already used on a wire. So, how does ACE know that I’m duplicating a wire number since the wire numbers where lost when the diagram was copied from one drawing to another?
Any suggestions?

Did you remove all those "white dots", and re-insert the wire numbers?
