Hello,

I'm having an issue that just started today. I was taught that AutoCAD electrical will convert a drawing to a panel footprint as long as it was originally created with Symbol Builder. I've been doing that for over a year now. Studently, today when I go and place the footprint in the drawing, first, it re-scales it, then it's turned into a block. I can later turn it to a footprint by selecting the Footprint Edit option, but even after that, I'm left with no Attributes.

This is only happening in my PC also. My coworkers tried that same symbol and they could have it as a footprint immediately after placing it on the drawing.

I'm attaching a video showing I mean.

And it doesn't matter what drawing you insert it into?
It would be interesting to have a look at the actual DWG/Block....

I seem to only be happening with the latest Blocks I created. But, weirdly, only on my computer. When my co-workers do the same thing with the same drawing and blocks, it works well.

I sent a copy of the drawing, and the two latest blocks I created.

Update,

I found a workaround. The problem seems to lie on the drawing itself. There's some issue there. Here is a summary of what I did:

  • I decided to update my CAD the 2024 and see if that would reset whatever was causing that issue.
  • The block were now accepted as Footprints, however, they were always treated by CAD as terminal blocks. All I would do is select the block from the Icon menu, drop in the drawing, select Footprint, and the block would automatically become a terminal block. The aforementioned steps are the same you would see in the video.
  • I decided to remove that drawing form my project and replace it with a brand new one.
  • Now the blocks are treated as a normal footprint.
