WD_TB title block attribute

I've created templates and used the WD_TB attribute to avoid having to create the .WDL file.

On my computer, when I edit the Project Descriptions, I see Project Name, Project, Drawn By, and so on. But when one of my colleagues creates a new project using the templates and goes to edit the project descriptions, they get LINE 1, LINE 2, LINE 3, etc.

Anyone have a possible reason why this is happening and solution to correct this?

Thanks

WD_TB replaces the WDT file, not the WDL file.

Basically, your other user is missing the default_wdtitle.wdl file from either his system or his search path.

The WD_TB attribute only stores the project settings.

The *.WDL file is a separate text file which ACADE uses to change LINE1, LINE2 and so on in the description editor.

http://help.autodesk.com/view/ACAD_E/2018/ENU/?guid=GUID-78AAD74B-D5E2-469D-8AA8-CA616F1FA563 is the ACADE 2018 Help File on how to set this up.

You can have a project specific WDL file as well as a default one. Just place the project specific file with the WDP file for the project.

Otherwise just place the default file in the search path as per the help file locations 4 or 5 as that means there will only be one file rather than 1 per project, especially if each project has it's own folder.

To fix the problem on the other system, locate the file on your system and copy it to the other system. place it somewhere on the search path and everything should be fine.

Prior to your reply, I looked for differences between my machine and that of my colleague. And sure enough, the default was missing. Don't understand why it wasn't installed with the rest of the software, but it wasn't.

copied my copy and had him put it in the same path as where mine was and it worked.

took a look at another colleague's machine and found the same issue.

So, put together a tutorial for the rest of the department and the problem went away.

I appreciate everyone's input towards resolving this issue.

Have a great day all!!!

The DEFAULT_WDTITLE.WDL file is not something that ACADE installs as each user/company will have different requirements.

This means that a install on a machine that hasn't had ACADE on it previously will be missing this file.

It's up to the user to create the file if required and then place it into the search path somewhere.

I copied that file and put it on the computers that didn't have it. All but one worked. That one is still only showing Line1, Line2, and so forth.

Any ideas why that machine is still not cooperating?

It's a small ASCII file, so I just place one inside each project folder and name it <projectname>_wdtitle.wdl.  That way there is no confusion as to which file works with that project, and if I zip the project to send to a colleague or to my client, they have it as well.

When you copy the project to begin a new project, the software will offer to copy the _wdtitle.wdl file as well and it will even rename it to match the new project name.  Basically whatever is before the underscore gets replaced with the same text that defines the project.  If the project definition file is named IECProj.wdp then the WDL file must be name IECProj_wdtitle.wdl.  But the Copy Project utility will take care of it for you, once you create the first one and copy that project to begin a new design variation,
