Title Block Update issues

I have custom template as title block. i have 100 sheets of drawing in single project. I want mention revision number entire drawing sheet, but, i don't  want to go with individual sheets. Is there any possibility to create a global attribute in templates which if update in one drawing sheet it would reflect entire project, or how to create links between the sheets for the project wide update...

What version of AutoCAD Electrical are you using?

My first reaction is to use the Projects Description attributes. Make one of them the value you wish to change and then  do the Titleblock update only on the drawings you want to change.

If you do not have that particular attribute already used in your template you will have to add it the titleblock  block and then use Swap/Update block to update it in all the drawings. After changing the value of the attribute, you can run Titleblock Update to the specific drawings you want to update.

Here is a link to updating the Title Block

I am using AutoCAD Electrical 2017. The template created with attribute definition, i has not created with drawing properties where we get Project the Description attributes. So, now, suggest how to do this..

Here is a really good walkthrough on how to set up a template with a title block: http://www.ecadconsultant.com/tips.html#Template.

As Bob said, you may find yourself having to edit the title block, then use the Swap/Update Block command to push it into all the drawings. After that, a title block update should finish the job.

But, you have to make sure your title block has the needed attributes for it to all work, and the above link should help you do that. For what you're doing here, you'll be working in the title block's source file, *NOT* the template file.

I believe I had the same issue as you and resolved it with some knowledge from different forum posts and ACAD knowledgebase articles. I don't have an intimate knowledge of how the links between the title blocks and project description works, but I can share the process that I followed to ensure that the project description will update to all title blocks.

I'm moving forward assuming that all your attributes are defined as such within the title block .dwg file itself and that you have an active project open.

  1. With the title block open as a .dwg file, go to the "Project" tab, then "Title Block Setup" under the "Other Tools" category. Select Method 2, the "WD_TB Attrib" method. All I can tell you about how it works is that it stores the attributes within the .dwg file as opposed to within a text .wdl or .wdt file.
  2. Under the "Project Value" column, if you have "LINE1  LINE2  LINE3 . . ." where there are meant to be specific values such as "Part Number  Project Title . . .", you will need to edit the .wdl file located in your project folder within File Explorer on your computer. These files *should* exist by default when you created the new project. An example of the syntax can be seen here in step 2.
  3. Refresh the project within Project Manager.
  4. Now, within the Title Block Setup screen, the Project Values that align with the .wdl should appear. From here, you can pick the attributes that you want associated with each project value via the Pick option or from the drop-down.
  5. Click OK. This process is probably what was missing - I know it was for me!
  6. Now, back to any of your drawings in your project. Make sure that their title block is the same one whose attributes you were just editing. If not:
    1. Go to "Insert" (this tab may be hidden - right click where the tabs are to add it).
    2. Insert Block -> More Options -> Browse   to browse for your title block, if necessary. Drop it in like any other block.
  7. You'll now want to check the .wdt file within your project to make sure that the project knows which block in your drawing is your title block.
    1. Within your project folder in File Explorer, look at the line that says "BLOCK =". Ensure that what follows is the file name of your title block. I've attached a .txt file as an example.
  8. Right click on your project within Project Manager to make sure that the Descriptions are what you want them to be.
  9. From here, you should be able to run Title Block Update by either right clicking on the Project in Project Manager or by going to the Project tab, just below where the Title Block Setup button was when editing the title block attributes.

Others, feel free to correct me on processes or explanations, as this is my 'I learned ACADE last week' explanation of how to do this.
