Terminal Strip Internal/external Problems

Anonymous
Not applicable

Hi

We have encountered some problems with the internal/external marking not working correctly.

We have some instances when even though marked correctly wires come in on the wrong side when using terminal strip editor.

If the wire sequence is removed or adjusted and then the terminal strip re-run it seems to work OK. This is proving to be time consuming and having an impact on productivity.

I believe this is a bug. Has anyone else had this problem? Can someone from Autodesk look at this please?

Many thanks

Lee

There is a discrepancy in the way ACADE works between the schematic and the TSE and they don't really talk to each other all that well.

When you do the schematic and set the Internal/External there, this data is saved to the terminal block.

The TSE however does the opposite. When you set the Internal/External in the TSE, it saves this information as XDATA on the first component it finds along the wire.

The TSE will also read any Wire Sequence you set in the schematic but only when you first edit the terminal strip. The next time you edit the strip it ignores any sequence settings and reads the sequence from XDATA it has saved elsewhere.

This means that if you edit a wire sequence AFTER you have used TSE on a terminal strip that's affected by the wire sequence, it will not read the new sequence from the schematic. It reads the OLD sequence from it's XDATA.

Vote for this idea in the Ideas Forum and hopefully the ACAD's decision makers will look at doing something.

Hi Brad

I'm still none the wiser on this one. I set the internal/external and wire sequence in the schematic. When I run TSE the wires are on the wrong side. What is the solution? Delete the strip and place again?

Surely Autodesk need to fix this bug. Not treat it as a new idea for improvement.

As I said in my previous post, the Internal/External marking in the schematics does not play well with the TSE method of marking the Internal/External connections.

The best way is to use the tools provided in the TSE to set the Internal/External connections for the graphical strips/tables you are going to insert.

TSE.JPG

The controls I've marked with the red box allow you to move the connections around on the terminal.

First button - Toggles the wires based on the LOC.

Second button - Toggles the wires based on the INST.

Third button - Moves the connections on the Highlighted line according to the sub menu that pops up.

Fourth button - Reverses the connections on the Highlighted line.

Fifth button - Moves the position of the wire while remaining on the same side (Only works on terminals with 2 or more wires on a side.

These tools allow you to set (and RETAIN) the Internal/External settings in the TSE and will show on the graphical terminal strip or the tables.

Hi Brad

Thanks for the response.

I'm aware of these controls. We can make the sequence work eventually but we have to rework drawings.

My point is that the system is not working correctly and should be fixed rather than having another work around.

Many thanks
