Dear friends,
I would like to share my problem. When I insert a symbol I can set different components such as location installation.
When I click LOOKUP button Autocad freezes and I can't get any information and I have to restart the application.
Has anyone experienced anything similar and could help, please do.
Would appreciate any advice!
Kind regards
Janis

Is your catalog (database) on a server? Check wd.env file and see what path do you have for the catalog (in Project Manager right click on the project and select Settings).

We need more information. Is this a stand-alone installation (only on your computer), or is it part of a network deployment, with data shared by multiple users? Like Stefan mentioned, the first thing to do is right-click on your project in Project Manager and select Settings (see attached screen capture) to verify which database the project is pointing to. By default the database is located at C:\Users\Douglas\Documents\Acade 2018\AeData\en-US\Catalogs but someone may have moved it, or renamed a folder in the path. Of course substitute your username for mine.
I recommend a simple and easy method for network sharing of the main databases, projects, and PLC data on my web site, at the link below. If you are attempting to set the software up for network sharing, this guide works. I offer 3 days of startup support to assist my clients with this very task. We cover networking on day two. I follow my own instructions and it works every time. You do not have to share libraries, menus, circuits, etc., though I prefer to, but you should at least follow the part pertaining to the AeData folder. That lets you share projects, the part number database, the language database, DIN rail/wireway generator spreadsheet, and footprint lookup. The following link will take you to my step-by-step list for sharing data over a network:

Like Stefan said, also check the wd.env (Wiring Diagram Environment) file and be sure that someone hasn't attempted to redirect the software to look for the Catalog Database elsewhere. The attached screen capture shows the default setting for the Catalog Database search. There is no need to even change this path if you follow my networking instructions. You will simply relocate the AeData folder and place this new path at the top of the Support File Search Path in AutoCAD Electrical Options.
