I want to put a Nameplate on my panel that does not reference any component in my design.  When I chose the Nameplate icon, it requires me to select an existing symbol.  Any way around this?

Open your footprint icon menu, go to the bottom where it says 'Browse', and then just navigate to the location of that particular nameplate and insert it manually.

**EDIT** whoops, tried that didn't work. But, it should if you just bypass ACADE's normal tools and insert it with Vanilla ACAD commands (INSERT).

I believe if you would press 'Enter' without clicking on a component, it gets inserted as a standalone item.
