Hello All,
I have a catalog number that in the textvalue i have multiple parts so that when i add that catalog number the multiple parts are added to the BOM when it is generated.
The textvalue works fine, everything comes in as expected but when i do a resquencing of the item numbers the description disapear. it seems that it is losing which catalog to look in.
I know i could add the WDBLKNAM attribute to force it to look up the correct catalog but i cannot because of the limited space available in the textvalue. I have 8 parts in the textvalue.
Anyone every see this and does anyone know of a work around other than manually editing the part by adding the catalog lookup to each part?
Thanks
Dennis

If you generate your BOM from the panel layout, and if the subassembly components are almost always the same, you can preload the footprint block with the MFG01, CAT01, MFG02, CAT01, etc. attributres, including the values that match records in the database. So you need only to select the main part number for the schematic symbol. When you insert the mapped footprint from the schematic list, the BOM generator will pick up th subassembly parts from the footprint attributes.

That's the golden ticket!!!
By putting all of that info into the symbol it comes out exactly as needed. The count can even be set to 0.
In my symbol I have the following attributes and what I have them set to:
CAT01 MFG01 ITEM01 WDBLKNAM01 CNT01
12345 AB 399A EN 0
I have the main catalog item number set to 399 and all the multiple catalog item numbers set as 399A...399B and so on to indicate they are part of the main kit number.
Thanks for Your help
