Has anyone had any experience with AngusJ Resource Hacker?

I'm using the portable version, mainly as it does not require installation, but when I add my .bmp and save, the images to not show up in AutoCAD Electrical; I just get the default image.

Incidentally, the file time and date do not update nor does the filesize (although I'm only adding a small image).  If I open the .dll again afterwards, the image is in there and view-able.

The old version of resource hacker (non AngusJ version by original author) worked fine but for some reason this version doesn't!!  I'm running as administrator.

Has anyone else had experience of this program for doing their custom menus?

Are you sure theres a BMP that should be in there, and not a PNG?

Good point... I'm pretty sure I used .bmp when I was using the 'installed' version some time back and all the other images in the file look as if they are .bmp (unless they are installed as something else and converted internally???).

Worth a try with a .png though to see what happens.

Nope, just checked by adding a .png and this does not work either same problem as original post.

All the other images in the file are .bmp and this previously worked in the past albeit with the installed version of resource hacker....

I wonder whether there is something not occurring when the file is saved (which may or may not account for the file attributes not updating?)

I cannot help you with the Resource Hacker, never used it.

I really wanted to have the images contained in one file (.dll as this is supported by AutoCAD) for neatness and ease of deployment - I don't want to have to hunt around finding all the missing pieces when re-deploying.  I find AutoCAD hard enough as it is in terms of its (lack of)organisation!!

I don't seem to be able to combine these images in a single file using the Icon Menu Wizard....

I'll take a look the RH website and see if they can shed any light on whats going on.

I tried many forums and even the developer and I couldn't find anyone who was able to support this product or provide an answer.

I did over the weekend solve the issue.  There are two versions; installed and portable.  If you use the installed version it all works as expected however the portable version does not.  Even though everything looks to have saved away (just as it does in the installed version), it must have something else occurring as it appears corrupted to AutoCAD Electrical.  I don't have the time to see how this file appears to other softwares so it may / may not be specific to this application???
