Is there an easier way to find components?

I have a major problem when I am creating schematic drawings.  I have become somewhat familiar with the components that are available in the software, however, there are some basic ones that I find hard to believe are not included.  For example, I would like to insert a ground symbol.  Under the Schematic tab I click the "Icon Menu" button, and go searching through all the categories and cannot find one.  So, easy enough, I draw one myself, no biggie, but I find myself fighting the battle between drawing symbols myself and searching for them too frequently. What am I missing?! Certainly there is supposed to be a Ground symbol in this library.

Thank you!

Have you tried "searching schematic components" by using Catalog List, Equipment List, Panel List ? There are schematic components libraries where you will find component you are searching for. Also In "Insert Component " Dialog box; if you Browse By name of .dwg component it will display Library menu. As you become more familier with Schematic Components library; searching component will also become easier and faster.

The gound and earth symbols are in the miscellaneous folder of most librarys.

Among the first things I do with each new install, I re-arrange the component menu so that all the symbols I use most frequently are only one or two levels down and easy to find.

This would include creating a new menu catagory for earth connections that are lumped under miscelleaneous and adding the child earth symbols (with screw number) to the list. I also add a terminal number to the existing parent for use on multi terminal earth bars.

You can search in the product Help for a symbol. In the search results look for topics that include Symbol Preview in the title. It will tell you what library set it is included with , i.e. IEEE, IEC-60617, etc. The topics are organized like the default Icon Menu so you can use the title to locate it in the icon menu.

Hope this helps,
