Form-C contacts for temperature switch

For temperature switches in the database, you can only select a contact type NO or NC. But there are temperature switches with a contact type Form-C (for example SIEMENS RAK-TW.1200HP). Contacts of this type cannot be defined for the temperature switches in the database. The use of two separate contacts - NO and NC is not very convenient and is not correct. How to use for temperature switches contact type Form-C?

Hi there,

 

I inserted a stock symbol from the menu. Explode it copy the graphic termination circle and related attributes.  Rename attributes of copied graphic.  Run symbol build.  Declare Type as Temperature Switch.  Save with new name.  When you insert the new switch you will have the chance to declare the contact arrangement as C-form.  3,1,2,3  where 3 is C-form 1 is common 2 normally closed 3 normally open.  I think this is what you are after.

Thank you, but this solution does not work. I have already created before my symbol, as you wrote. When add contacts, as you suggest, these contacts appear for the child component, instead the parent. I need to contact such as Form-C were determined for the parent component, as it happens when inserting NO or NC contacts of pressure or temperature switches.

Hi again,

 

This works but I don’t know if it will work for your application.

 

  1. Insert temperature or pressure switch into drawing.
  2. Open symbol builder, choose the the <Unnamed> button to open the drop down list and select the switch from the list.
  3. Edit the symbol in Symbol Builder.
  4. Uncheck the CONTACT [NO] attribute.
  5. In the attribute listing OPTIONS pane create two attributes and insert them to the symbol. New attributes, XREFNO and XREFNC.
  6. You are done editing. I would save the symbol with a new name and insert it into your drawing.
  7. Now you can use the symbol EDIT and go to the NO/NC Setup. The pin/contact definition would not work for me using the C-form 3,13,14,12 but it did work with standard NO/NC which is 1,13,14;2,13,12.

 

  1. When you insert standard relay NO/NC contact and select the new switch as the PARENT, ACE will ask if you want to change the NO/NC contact family from CR to TAS, say yes.  You could create new contacts in the TAS family if you want.

 

There is probably a better way to do this but that is how I fumbled through.

 

I am attaching the new symbol if you would like to take a look at it or use it.

Are you are talking about a change over contact operated by temperature only, no coil?

 

If so, open a change over contact and add the symbol graphics to turn it into a symbol for a tempreature switch.

Next, change the TAG2 attribute to read TAG1.

Add the CAT and MFG attributes.

 

Check and make sure that all other required attributes are present.

 

'Save As' the block and make sure the filename matches the orientation, family and parent status of the block...

For example 'HTS1_Temp Changeover Contact'

H for Horizontal (Block Orientation - Use V for Vertical Blocks)

T for Temperature (First part of family identification)

S for Switch (second part of family identification)

1 for being a parent block. (1 for parent blocks, 2 for choild blocks)

_ is used as a placeholder for another specific use character.

The rest is to differentiate between other blocks and can be anything you like.

I need a symbol, a temperature switch, which has no coil, no child contacts. The device has only a group of contacts Form-C, nothing more. ACE will allow for such devices to insert only contacts NO or NC. How to add an insert device with contacts Form-C? The problem is in the database - there's no opportunity for the temperature switches to assign a contacts type Form-C. I found a similar image for pressure switch, the circuit is made in another program. With the pressure switch in Electrical the same problem - only the contacts are NO or NC.

Icemanau - your method does not solve the problem of placing the catalog data in the right database table.

 

Is it possible to change a database table with temperature switches that it was the ability to add contacts Form-C?

I had no problems with adding some test catalog data to my catalog for a C/O contact operated by temperature.

Adding the pin data to the coil pins also worked and came into a test dwg with no problems.

NOTE - When adding pin data, COIL PINS mean the parent block. No matter how many pin connections the parent has, they all go in this entry.

Do not use the format for the contact pin list. Just add the pins in the sequence that the connections are listed in the block.

 

Post your block so that I can take a look at it and see if there are any problems.

I understand that you can just point contacts in COILPINS in the order in which they will be in the block. Without specifying that it must be some type of contact. But there is a problem: if for example I need to insert only contact N. O. or N. C. , not Form-C, then the program would be incorrectly identified contacts (or no defined). That is, I always will have to insert a block with contacts Form-C, which in fact is not defined as a contact Form-C, but which will be listed the contacts in the correct sequence in COILPINS? I attach my block...
