Foot print block swap ends up in paper space

When changing the part number in the schematic and letting the program update the foot print, AE swaps the block out but it ends up in paper space for customers that use paper space borders.

Is there a patch for this?

I do this pretty often, and it's never happened to me. When using the swap command, are you doing it in paperspace through the viewport? That's the only way I can think of for this to even happen. If so, just switch to model space to do the swap.

If not, we'll need some more info. Does this happen for all users? Which version of ACADE are you on? What's your OS and does the affected workstation meet the system requirements for running ACADE? Can you post a Screencast showing this happen?

I am not using the swap block command!

I am changing the part number on the schematic symbol and letting AE batch process the panel update.

Result:

For testing I just used the demo project and duplicated the results.

I'm using AE 2019 on a Windows 10 pro OS Dell Optiplex 9020

This has been happening for years I just have some time now to report on it.

Sorry, I misspoke regarding the swap command, my fault. I don't even know why I used the word 'swap' lol.

But yes, I do do this pretty often and this has never happened to me. For me, schematic edits that force a footprint change, at most, result in attributes coming in at the wrong size. I just tried it on one of my projects as well as the NFPA demo and couldn't reproduce your issue. I'm using 2017 on WIN 7.

In the layout drawing, when you first open it up, does it go to modelspace or paperspace? If paper, then try saving the file while you're in modelspace and try again.

I'm not sure what else to suggest, since I can't reproduce this on my end. Hopefully someone will chime in with more help...

Ok you have narrowed it down to what state the panel drawing is in while open or closed. If the drawing is open in model space or saved while in model space it doesn't happen but it does happen when the panel drawing is either open or saved while in paper space.

This still needs to be fixed.

You can post that to the ACAD ideas forum. (This behavior is part of core functionality so if you were to post the idea to the Electrical Ideas forum it wouldn't get the traction it deserves.) If they took this and fixed it, it would filter down to all the verticals.

I don't see why it needs to affect a change in all the other verticals, the batch process just needs to force the drawing to model space regardless of whether it is open or not.
