Edit AutoDesk Logo

I am using the ACAD_ELECTRICAL_IEC.dwt template and would like to replace "AutoDesk" with my company name, using the same font style and size within the title block. How can I do this?

Thank you,

Unfortunatley, the logo is not a "text". So, to create your own logo, with the same fint, you'll have to find a font that matches.

That being said, to edit this, open ACAD_ELECTRICAL_IEC.dwt, right click on the title block, and select Block Editor.

Now, you can remove the old logo, and insert your logo.

Close the block editor and save changes.

Then saveAS to save he tample with another name than ACAD_ELECTRICAL_IEC .

Got it. I appreciate your response.

So, can I insert my own company logo? I currently have a .png file, may I use that?

If so, how is that accomplished? I tried reading from the knowledge base already but didn't find anything.

Thank you,

Yes. you can use a PNG-file.

Just open the PNG file in Paint, select entire image, and press CTRL+C. Then CTRL+V it into the drawing.

For company logos, I usually recommend tracing over it with AutoCAD entitites (lines, arcs, hatches, etc.) to create a block.  Referenced image files tend to get left behind when files are transferred elsewhere.

That's exactly why I copy/paste the image into the drawing, to get it in as an OLE-object. This way it will always follow the drawing 🙂

I've found that embedding files like that increases the file size quite dramatically...

I've had a 200 odd kb file go up to over 1.5 Mb simply by adding a JPG file for a small logo.

This is why I try to never embed a file like this.

The best thing for logo's is to trace over the embedded file and then remove the embedded file.

Then do a purge before saving the traced version as a block that can be inserted into however many CAD files you want.

I have cheated a slight bit as I have the logo separate from the title block but still included within the template.

That means that if the company logo changes (which it has 3 times for me) all I do is replace the affected block in any current project dwgs rather than the entire title block.

Hi guys, hope this message finds you all safe and well...

So, I am doing exactly what you are saying to copy and paste my logo into the title block. The image is .PNG file,  but when I bring into my template, it comes with a black border and when I print it the logo is shown with a black border/line around it...

The question is, how can I hide the black border from my logo?

Thanks,

Doug

Type OLEFRAME on the command line, and make sure it's set to 0 or 2.

I'll echo Brad's advice...just make a CAD drawing of the logo. I've done this for years, simply because there tends to be a loss of fidelity in terms of how crisp the image is at plot time...I don't like seeing nice sharp lines in the drawing and title block, only to have fuzzy indistinct lines in an embedded image.

If you've never done this before, it's not hard:
*Start a fresh drawing
*Attach/insert the image of the logo
*Trace over it with standard ACAD linework
*Remove image, clean up linework, add hatch patterns if needed
*Save for use as a block later

The result is far superior to a jpg or other image, at least insofar as using it in ACAD is concerned. It's infinitely scaleable, you have much more control over how it plots, and it's easy to edit if needed.

Thank you so much Jim, it is really easy and much better as you can manage the scale of it and the quality is always the same...

Appreciate your help.

Anyone knows how to edit the border line to have it thinner? See the attached pic to have an idea of what i am saying...I have tried a lot of different layers and it is not working when I generate PDF of it...

Thanks
