DEFAULT TAG FOR CONTACTOR IN AS (AUSTRALIAN STANDARD)

Hi Guys

I am using AS standards for my project. On inserting a contractor ,I go to icon menu > motor control >motor starter coil.On inserting the coil by default the tag comes up as k1 (k followed by the next sequential number). Now on inserting the NO power contacts I go to icon menu > motor control >motor starter 3 Pole NO (Power) but the default tag on the child comes as QA. Although when I link them ,all tags are changed to k1.

But am wondering if the default tag for Power Contractor in Australian Standards would be K1 or QA1 .

Thanks for reading.

Not applicable

K is commonly used for relay / contactor and Q is for Switching devices for power circuits eg. circuit breakers. It also depends on company / industry standards, eg. CB is more commonly used Switching devices for power circuits.

I just checked the symbols in the AS2 symbol library that comes with AcadE.

If you insert a motor starter (contactor) it should get the code Q.
A relay should get K.

Did you set up your project to reference the AS2 library? Also, did you you purge the drawing for unused blocks before inserting?

Hi

Yes I setup my project to reference to as2. I am using AutoCAD Electrical 2019.I have attached my schematic project properties.I don't anything about Purge. But on your recommendation I did Purge All and now the motor starter poles also come up as 'K'. Why and how purge changed this is confusing me but anyway Thanks for going that far as I am aware there are not a lot of AutoCAD Electrical users using as2 standard.

Here's a quick video of me trying AS2 symbols. They should be Q...

Also I opened HMS21P Drawing from as2 library and checked what was the default value for TAG..it showed k.I think in 2018 or 2019 it was defined as K.But am not sure.Have attached the picture.

In the folder C:\Swick\AUTOCAD ELECTRICAL LIBRARY\Swick Custom Symbols

Do you have the symbols HMS21P and HMS1 etc. in there?

Make a backup of te project, and run the library swap option in the Block Swap/Update tool.
Swap to AS2.
When you insert new components now, what letter do they get?

Just did that .It hasn't changed the tags.Although some of the attributes have been moved. Good you asked me to take a backup .haha

Now I am pretty certain AutoCAD Electrical 2019 has different tags compared to Autocad Electrical 2020 in AS2 standard.
