I have This generator controller and I want to add it to my autocad electrical and what I need to know is

Will I deal with it as symbol like relays or PLC (somehow this controller is a PLC) or a circuit like motor circuit

And after that

Hi @Mohamed_A_Albadri

The answer really depends upon what are you looking to get out of your new symbol. The PLC symbols are bit more complicated than standard symbol but has more functionality in terms of dynamics I/O addressing of terminals and descriptions of what is wired to every terminal.

Looking at the you snips, it seems like it is some sort of a smart controller but not a full blown industrial PLC.

I have used relays family before for stuff like that where the device is a smart relay controller but not a PLC and what I mean by that is all the terminals have a fixed number, There is no IO addressing required/configurable.

Now assuming you are looking for full symbol build, with catalog and footprint, here is what you should do:

1. Create Schematic Symbol after deciding which family will work best for you.

2. Create a catalog browser entry in the right family table and link the 2D symbol.

https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACAD_E/2024/ENU/?guid=GUID-3CB94487-CF38-4F0A-ACAA-A0E8438DA009

3. Create a panel footprint drawing, You can try to find a 2D dwg/dxf online or try to create one by yourself.

https://help.autodesk.com/view/ACAD_E/2022/ENU/?guid=GUID-A93389E5-F52B-4D86-8E39-2B4FE5DF5F4F

4. Link the Catalog Browser entry to Panel footprint symbol using the AEFOOTPRINTDB command.

After this, you should be able to insert this as any regular schematic symbol and insert a footprint. Feel free to post more questions if you need more help on any specific points.
