Hi,
I am currently using AutoCAD Electrical 2016. I am working on a drawing (Drawing #1) in a new project. I wanted to re-use a circuit I had drawn on a different drawing (Drawing #2) that was included in an older project. To do this, I opened up Drawing #2, selected the entire circuit I wanted, and pressed <Ctrl-C> to copy the circuit to the clipboard. Next, in a Drawing #1, I pressed <Ctrl-V> to paste the circuit. After pasting, I moved the circuit exaclty where I wanted it.
When using this method, I am having a lot of confusion with regards to how wire numbers are treated. For example, lets say I have a wire number '10' in Drawing #2. From what I can tell, the following things are important for linking the wire number '10' to the corresponding line:
(1) the line is drawn on layer 'WIRES'
(2) there is a block named 'WD_WNV' with its insertion point directly on the above line
(3) the block 'WD_WNV' has an attribute named 'WIRENOF' that contains the wire number.
..when I copy and paste the above line with the same block (with the same attribut value) into a different drawing, they are in exactly the same location relative to each other, but the association between the wire number and the line are not maintained properly. In the case of my wire number '10', after pasting, it shows on my drawing as wire '10'. If I choose 'Edit Wire Number', the dialog box shows '10' as the existing wire number and allows me to change it to '11' (or whatever I want), but the number '10' still remains on my drawing (and '11' is not visible).
I was just wondering if anyone could tell me the proper procedure for copying and pasting from one drawing to another when I want wire numbers to be retained and to be able to edit them if necessary.
Any advice will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance,
Paul
