component tagging issues

Before I waste too much time, our projects normally have 4 different “installation” =A01, =Sxx, =Hpp and =Kqq and across these locations I could have 4 components with the same TAG “MDL143”. The way I have our component suffix set up as I go across the project insert a MDL143 (in =A01) the next installation ends up as =Sxx-MDL1431, next is =Hpp-MDL1432 and finally =Kqq-1433.

These are 4 distinctly different installations, so we do have many various components with the same Tags just various installations. In the drawing properties I do have the “installations” noted and I thought that is what I needed to do, but obviously not.

Again, thanks in advance for the help!

And you have enabled the use of installation/location codes in the project properties as well?

As long as "combined installation/location tag mode" is enabled, the _complete_ tag of the component is =INSTALLATION+LOCATION-TAG1

This combination has to be unique in the project.

What problems are you experiencing? Can you share a test-project?
