Can I have fixed BOM #s ???

I have a standard BOM of preferred parts.  In the past, I've always re-sequenced and the BOM is re-ordered, and re-numbered.

Is there a way to make an item from a catalog always have the same BOM number between projects... a preferred BOM number if you will.  Some of my panel guys have these memorized.

Can you add "ITEM=123" to the TEXTVALUE field in your catalog?
Then, after adding this, use the "Component update from catalog" function to update all existing parent symbols. You'll find this on the Project tab, command group "Other tools".

Did a little test now. That won't work when the item number is stored as XDATA.
