AutoCAD Electrical drawing simulator

Hello everybody,

I am new to AutoCAD Electrical, and searching for (if it exists), a simulation tool.

This tool might be able to simulate a drawing in the dwg format.

I've been searching for weeks (considering other options), but nothing.

Please, can you share your experience with me, perpahs you already met a similarly tool?

Thanks by advance.

Not really understanding your request.  Rather than a program to simulate drawing in ACADE, just download a demo.  Is there some reason that isn't possible?

hello drathak, sorry for late and thanks for your reply.

I have to be able to simulate any kind ofdrawing done on Eletrical. The drawings are for trains runs.

So I don't really see how a downloaded demo can help me.

Can you please explain more? Thank you.

Perhaps I chose the wrong word.  Autodesk offers a fully functional, limited time trial copy for download here.

I understand now,

But I even have the licence, I just want to be able to simulate the logical circuit on electrical. perhaps i'm not quite concise?

For example, an option on electrical that could generate my drawing's truth table. I'll then have the list of all inputs and ouputs, and especially the states of the outputs in terms of those inputs.

This truth table can help me in order to write a program that simulates the logical circuit behavior ....

Hope I'm explained better ...

thank you drathak 🙂

You will not be able to simulate any electronic circuit inside AutoCAD Electrical.

If you think about it, it's next to impossible to do this in ANY drawing package.

Should AutoCAD Electrical load and executed the PLC-code for all the different plc-manufactureres in the world? How about every semiautomatic component in the world, who is supposed to set the parameters for how they work, so that a program can simulate them?

Simulation of electric circuits is possible for smaller, really simple circuits, but not in AutoCAD Electrical

https://www.circuitlab.com/ for example....

Wow, that sends me back.  It's been a couple of decades (!) since I've last played with Circuit Lab...

Yeah, complex analog circuits are difficult to simulate.  Pure logic systems are a bit easier given the limited input/output options but the time required to input all the nodes is about the same as just looking at the layout and following the bits through.

yeah rhesusminus, this is final.. I can't simulate electrical circuit inside AutoCAD Electrical.

Your questions are very pertinent, and i already asked them to my tutor. The answer is that we'll not have to work on a so large area. Only on electrical circuits for trains, simple and more complex schemas. But this remains difficult.

I like the circuit lab, it'll inspire me for the future.

Thanks rhesusminus, your comment is an assurance for me about my conclusion for the AutoCAD Electrical's inability to simulate. Smiley Wink

Exactly dgorsman, even a lot of open source software exist to do the job. But not the one I want because my components are not logic gates.

But I have ideas to make it possible, I'll get back to you once I ordered them.

Thanks to you all for your replies 🙂

you can't simulate circuits. but there is a useful tool to troubleshoot the circuits so that you can remove any problems from your project and drawings.

Thank you, Pedi2000 ,

But this page is in arabic i don't get anything 🙂 and don't see where to change the language 🙂

can you give me the english website? Thank you I'll have a look 🙂

He may be referring to the Audit tools?

The two Audit tools will only go so far.

They will check for things like unconnected wires, duplicate numbers, and other problems that are dwg related.

They won't check that a contact for relay 'A' is the correct contact to use in that circuit. For that and other design decisions you have to get someone else to check the dwgs.

I did see a program to simulate electrical (NOT ELECTRONICS) circuits but that was quite a few years ago and you had to draw the circuits using it's inbuilt dwg editor. No importing dwgs from other programs. It was quite limited in what it could do and didn't allow for making easy changes.

Hello guys 🙂

I already use this tool inside Electrical, it helps me to detect when a wire is not connected and so on... so that I can have a drawing without error ...

Thank you guys for your help 🙂

i am trying for a software which will read the dwg drawing of a realy logic

and it should simulate the diagram(circuit)

do i want to learn any programming for that like vhdl?
