Allen Bradley VFDs

I found and regularly use the blocks for Allen Bradley PLC I/O, where it automatically knows terminal names and number of terminals, etc.  I am wondering, is there any such thing for PowerFlex VFDs?  I searched but couldn't find anything...Any help would be appeciated!

The software doesn't include VFD symbols.  I has been my experience, as I have worked all over the world, that if I visit 10 different companies I see 10 different variations of symbols for the same VFD.  Autodesk could never predict how each of us would like our VFD drawn.  

Autodesk does supply us with standard electrical symbols for common 2 wire symbols and 3-phase symbols, as well as common PLC sysmbols.  Beyond that it becomes very much application-specific.  So Autodesk provides us with the Symbol Builder utility to make custom versions of common symbols and to make application-specific symbols the way we wish to see them.  It is your opportunity to add your own creativity to your drawings.

Sorry it’s another Autodesk we do it our way rather than embrace what the market is doing

What do I men well ACADE's competing software and I mean the ones that out sell ACADE by a large margin have embraced having a server which is populated with parts data /symbols etc which is updated regularly and updated with the full cooperation of parts vendor

Which if you have paid your subscription you can access through your cad software and download the latest information

so who has the better system for parts data management  ?

If the manufacturers provide part details along with footprints, we do take care of them and include them in either software releases year on year. Also recently, EATON & AB came up with a significant catalog data that we have posted on our dedicated content pack location on autodesk website. With regards to VFD schematic standard symbols, do you see any missing references ? Do share if have inforamtion if you have !

That’s a no from Autodesk it won’t entertain a successful addition to Acade that you competitors can rightly point out what Acade can’t do because you didn’t think of it first

I see rather than Autodesk actively getting involved then you want the component manufactures to do all the work for you

FYI because the database is so US orientated and out of date none of my parts exist in the current version of the database even though if use Siemens PLCs and phoenix terminals !!!!!

PS why did it take you 10 years to put in the next page / previous page attributes in the page border when your competitors have done it from the start ?

Unfortunatly, Allen-Bradley seems to hate us, even though Nate programmed a direct call to their Product Selection Toolbox into ACADE---they haven't released a 64 bit plug in, and seem to be focusing on their relationship with EPLAN.

That said, you can go to AB's website and download their "accelerator toolkits"--these come with example drawings that were made with ACADE---so all of the attributes are there. There about 6-8 of these covering various industries---get them all and discard what you don't need.

I have snagged VFDs, power supplies, PLCs and other components--if they aren't exactly what you need, at least the heavy lifting has been done, and you can modify them to work

Eplan has successfully taken someone else idea (yes Eplan didn’t come out with the remote server idea first)

Got the various component supplies to buy into the idea that by jointly working together the component supplier can get instant access to 150,000+

installations of Eplan which in turn exposes those users to products that they might not have thought about

A week doesn’t go by where there isn’t another announcement by Eplan on new content going to there servers

Its obviously hit critical mass now and component supplies are seeing the benefit of the system
