DREF Part Styles and Layers | Same as Source?

Sure would be nice if one could easily DREF a Pipe Network, and all of the Source's part Styles, Layers, and Label Layers were used.

As example:

I have a Stormwater Pipe Network for a specific Pond that I DREF, which has a submerged pipe at the end of the pipe run with a Null structure that has a 'Pipe Support' Style duitable for the size of pipe at the outfall. I have myriad Null Structure Styles for Pipe Supports, MES, etc. because your included end treatments are insufficient, so I cannot set one as default either.

I've already applied the desired Style, you're already opening the Source drawing as side database in order to create the DREF, if not also 'use the Source labels', so just apply the same Structure Style as the Source?! Grrrr

Also, there are times where an override may be needed, not in this particular context given my example, but there is - I shouldn't have to go into Structure Properties to change a Style, I *should* be able to change it from... Wait for it... THE PROPERTIES PANE.

Same holds true for reference Surface, Alignment, Sump, etc.

Sometimes I wonder if you ever even bothered to talk to folks who produce plans out here in the real-world before coming up with Civil 3D, which is a complete misnomer, as it's neither suitable for Civil projects, nor real 3D, frankly. Grrr again

Just went to bring in a DREF Pipe Network... I'm presented with the Create Pipe Network Reference dialog, and I configure the Layers, etc.

Problem is, the resulting Pipe Network's Layers are all set to "0" Layer, instead of what I manually assigned... Further, because this is a DREF, I cannot edit them either.

Again, why is this preferable to XREF?

For that matter, Profile Structures, and Pipes are separate entities - why not allow us to draw XREF Pipes and Structures (we can label them)?
