Stretch objects only by X or Y direction

Hello,

Is there any way in Auto Cad to stretch or move geometry or grip points to  other reference point without any distortion. It is a sort of snap setting which is available in 3ds max called " Enable Axis Constraints". It helps you to move objects only orthogonality . You can specify any reference point knowing that your object will move only by x or y direction. As you see in the image, if I move the grip point and I want it to be aligned  to the height with the adjacent object, it wont end up being distorted. This feature would be very handy with stretch command, If anyone knows how to customize that in CAD it will be a big help.
Thank you.

Some objects, like Walls, have Lengthen grips that only allow for moving the end along the axis of the justification line.  For AutoCAD linework, Object Snap Tracking (OTRACK) can help you do similar things.2019-06-14_ACA2020_ObjectSnapTracking.png

Thanks for respond David, this method is what I have been using so far, and it's  little slow during the drafting process. You have to snap and then return back to the same trajectory. Or sometimes your geometry accidentally  snaps to the indicated reference point, it end up being distorted.  If there would be a way to lock it to X and Y  axis, it would have been a great help.

While in any command that prompts for a point type .x or .y and enter.  Make sure F8 ortho is on.  There is a video attached. You can also get to it from your shift right click osnap menu.
