AutoCAD into AutoCAD Architecture

I have been given a base building file in AutoCAD but will need to present a section later on. Is there a way to transform an AutoCAD file into an AutoCAD Architecture file? Or is there a way to trace the AutoCAD file in AutoCAD Architecture easily? I have been searching for a while now without finding any solutions.

You can open or externally reference the AutoCAD file in AutoCAD Architecture.

Is the AutoCAD file a 2D plan, or is it a full 3D model?

Plain AutoCAD files have no AEC content, and unless you know differently, the content is 2D, so there is probably nothing to cut a section through. ARCH version of AutoCAD does not auto-convert DWG files in any way to make them all AEC content or make it a "building" to cut through.

Did you open the file(s) and did you find what is missing yet?
