3d wall type obscuring a different wall type

Working with 3d walls in a 2d environment.  We've created different wall styles, but when we stack different wall types, and switch layers, one of the wall types is always obscured.  Why?  And what do I change to keep this from happening?

I have tried changing the base line direction, and that works, but it defeats the ease of use.

I have tried blocking one layers worth of walls, but when you refedit, the walls that are in the same location then disappear.

Changed the components Name & Priority, still no joy.

Included is an example, if you isolate the yellow wall, you will see an obscured portion of the wall when the red wall layer is turned off.  But, this is the odd part, if you isolate the red wall, nothing is obscured by the yellow wall.

I'd appreciate any help, I'm hoping I am simply missing something simple.

Thank you,

Let me lead off with the fact that I am confused as to why you have two Walls positioned such that one is entirely within the extents of the other.

Both Walls are assigned to the same Wall Cleanup Group, and the Justification Lines of both Walls are coincidental.  Both Wall Styles have a single component.

The component in the 2-6inWall-NEW Wall Style has a priority of 200; the instance of this Wall Style is on layer SF Walls (color 52 - sort of "yellow").

The component in the 1-6inWALL-NEW Wall Style has a priority of 100; the instance of this Wall Style is on layer FFwalls (color 1 - red).

The difference in priorities is what creates the effect you describe.  A Wall Component with a lower priority number, will overwrite any Wall Component with a higher priority number, so since the two Walls cleanup with each other, the red Wall overwrites the yellow wall.  Turning off, freezing or isolating the layer of the red Wall does not stop the Wall cleanup.  So everything you see here is "as designed and expected".

We are using the 3d walls in a 2d environment.  Like drawing lines of different layers on top of one another and using layer controls to flip between floors.

Thank you for the information about Wall Cleanup Groups, that solved the first part of the problem, walls can now stack, and not interfere with one another.

Second part, I am not seeing how I can set the wall cleanup group inside of the wall style itself.  Is that a possibility, or is it just something that has to happen after the wall has been drawn?

Thank you for your help, we've been fighting this with difficult to use fixes for awhile now.

The Wall Cleanup Group is assigned to individual Walls.  It is not assigned at the style level.

You can create a tool palette Wall tool for each Wall Style you use and then assign the Wall Cleanup Group in the properties of the Wall tool.
