Hey Community,

What do you think, other in actual in-class lessons, are some great resources to learn Autocad Architecture?  I've done the Lynda.com course, and just looking for more resources!  Thanks.

If a tutorial-format book fits in your learning style, there are a number from which to choose.  Unfortunately, the current economics of the publishing industry do not allow for new versions to be published with every release, as they did some years back.  (The reduced number of new features in recent versions of AutoCAD Architecture also contributes to that.)  So you may not find a lot of books covering the 2018 or 2017 release of AutoCAD Architecture.

That said, a search of this forum should turn up opinions on the relative merits of the books that are available.  I am only very familiar with one series, by Paul Aubin, the most recent one available was written for the 2011 release: The Aubin Academy Master Series: AutoCAD Architecture 2011.  The book takes you through the features of the program through tutorials on two projects, one residential, the other commercial.  If you are interested in learning how to use the Drawing Management feature of AutoCAD Architecture (Project Browser and Project Navigator), this would be a good place to start.  It obviously will not cover anything added in later releases, but the basics of the Drawing Management feature have not changed substantially since then.

FULL DISCLOSURE:  I assisted Mr. Aubin with the 2010 and 2011 versions of the book.  I was compensated for my time, but I do not receive any additional compensation based on sales.

It's probably for a bit more advanced users but I found Archidigm.com a fantastic site to learn from.  Lots of practical examples and he also has a full explanatory guide for free which is excellent (not much has changed except the interface) and he has great content for a small price.
Some free video's from ADT
There are several book resources available, I used Paul Aubin's book to get me started.
David didn't promo his own blog but it has many tips etc including an excellent collection on scheduling features.

If you can find Autodesk Virtual University somewhere online or it's current version there were some excellent lectures recorded to video on ADT/ACA and much of it would still be current.  I downloaded a heap of video's I have stored.  Autodesk has youtube channels and perhaps they have put them up there?

And I claim the title to being king of the roof object and my vid's hopefully show off the RO.

Hope that's helpful.

I would highly recommend Paul Aubin's book Aubin Academy Master Series: AutoCAD Architecture 2011.

It may be a few years old but all of its content is still applicable.

Hi @Anonymous,

What a great topic - thanks for starting the discussion here in the community!

All of the resources that @ntellery@leothebuilder, and @David_W_Koch are great places to continue learning AutoCAD Architecture.

Here are the links to some of the Autodesk University classes that I believe @ntellery is referring to. You can log in with the same Autodesk Account credentials you use here in the forum, and all of the past courses are available to you, with course materials to follow along:

@Sridhar-Autodesk: Do you have any more helpful resources to recommend here?

@Victoria.Studley

The training content on https://autodesk.cadlearning.com/ is also good apart from lynda.com

Thanks,

I went through the Aubins book that has been suggested. Even though it was for 2011 and I was using 2017 ACA I didn't have any problems. There were a couple lessons where something had a slightly different name or the pop up was a slightly different layout, but those times were very few. They also weren't hard to figure out what it wanted you to do.

Comparably I went through a revit book that was off by a few versions and some of the lessons that should have taken 15 minutes took me 45 minutes as I had to basically figure it out myself because commands were missing or changed. Probably because revit was updating and changing faster and ACA was pretty set in it's ways by now.
