Select text in file that is a specific annotative scale

Hello,

I hope this is the correct place to post this question…

I have an Auto Cad 2016 file – it’s very large and has A LOT of text (all text in the same layer). The text is one of 2 annotative scales I am using. The larger text is 1”=100’ anno scale and the smaller is 1/16”=1’. I would like to select all the text that is 1/16”=1’ annotative scale and place it in a different layer. The Qselect, Selectsimilar nor the Filter commands give me the option of selecting ONLY the text that is 1/16”=1’ in annotative scale.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

If all of the text has just one scale assigned, you could turn off the Annotation Visibility tool (so that only the current annotation scale content shows) and then set the annotation scale to 1/16" = 1'-0".  At that point, only the text that has the 1/16" = 1'-0" text will be visible and you can use a window or crossing selection to get it.  (If you get other items, you can use Quick Select to get just the text.  Or turn off all of the layers other than the text layer before you make the selection.)

Hi David, thank you for the quick reply. My drawing has 2 different annotative scale, as you can see by the screenshot I provided. The larger text is 1"=100'. I need to select all the smaller text (which is 1/16" = 1') and place it in a separate layer. At the moment all my text is in one layer.

  1. Set your annotation scale to 1/16" = 1'-0".
  2. At the command line, type ANNOALLVISIBLE and press the ENTER key.
  3. Is the current value shown 1?  If so, set it to 0.
  4. The text with the 1" = 100'-0" annotation scale assigned will no longer be visible (or selectable).
  5. The text with the 1/16" = 1'-0" annotation scale assigned will be visible and selectable.  Select it, and change its layer as desired.

Still do not believe me?  Here is a Screencast showing this feature in action.  I do not have access to ACA 2016 at the moment, but the 2017 interface is nearly identical and the ANNOALLVISIBLE System Variable works exactly the same way.
