screen data entry setting

how do you enter object dimension information on the screen rather than at the command line

attached is what I want set for drawing a rectangle rather than at the command line

enter width then tab over enter height.  this would be seen on the display screen like the line command

Look into the DYNMODE system variable, and/or the DSETTINGS command.

Hi thanks

its works from the pointer using the (Dsettings)

the rectangle jumps back to the  x,y origin.  how do you set the start point to be independent of the origin

ie a 2"x10" joist 10 ft long . I want the joist to start where I click the start point . it seems to jump back to x,y

@x,y is the typing method you would use from a selected starting/origin point.
