Scaling image when inserting without knowing exact scale factor

When inserting an image, is there a way to scale it on-screen by clicking to a snap point or a point on the screen? The other end of the image seems to go so big that it disappears off the screen. So the way only way seems to be to set the scale factor by typing it.

They don't come in like blocks, so typing is the approach with the most control.

1. Attach the image.

2. Zoom out so you can see the image entirely.

3. Start the scale command, pick a basepoint, select relative, pick two points on the image a known distance apart and then, when asked what the distance should be, either:

   a. enter the distance as a number,

   b. pick a single point. The distance between the reference point and that point will be measured as a distance.

   c.  choose the points option and select two more points to define the new distance.

This is the way I usually do it. I was after a way of scaling the image exactly as I want it when attaching, rather than attaching and typing a random size and then having to scale it.

Good luck. I don't see how that's possible. Propose an algorithm for that process.

I wanted to submit this as an idea but there doesn't seem to be an AutoCAD Architecture Ideas page.

As I understand it, further development of AutoCAD Architecture is limited to AutoCAD related improvements.  Autodesk pulls its focus on AutoCAD improvement primarily from AUGI wish list forums.  Your wish doesn't seem like an AutoCAD Architecture specific one.

There are a number of products for which Autodesk has developed an interaction style called "ideas".  You can see those forums here: https://forums.autodesk.com/?interaction_style=idea

Don't request this idea though unless you can describe how such a command might work and how much time it might save.  (The algorithm I asked you to describe.)  At best, your wish involves only combining two pre-existing commands and saving a few keystrokes. Using image and scale doesn't take much time.

Thank you for the link.

Although it seems like none of those forums are suitable because there isn't one general AutoCAD forum or an AutoCAD Architecture forum.

It would save a bit of time, not a huge amount. But it would still be a simple improvement of the product.

Thank you for your help.
