Rendering with ACA 2016

Hi all, I have an issue with ACA 2016 when rendering indoor environments. I render outdoor environments regularly, and am happy with the output ACA produces in that context. The 2014 rendering engine seemed to be much more robust with user defined settings, the 2016 version doesnt afford a breat deal of control.

I have been getting grainy outputs, and need to understand why exterior renders look smoother with less noise, after computing for less time, on the same settings.
