Quick Access Toolbar loses commands

I seem to be having an odd occurance. I am running Architecture 2010. and no... that's not the odd occurance,...

I have added certian commands to my Quick Access Toolbar. Every few days or so the Quick Access Toolbar loses the commands that I have placed on it and I must reattach them. I use the "More Commands..." option from the drop down of the Quick Access Toolbar, bringing up the dialog box from which I drag the wanted commands onto the toolbar. The commands could stay on the toolbar for as long as a week, and other times they last just for the day.

Any suggestions would be helpful.

Thank You

Patrick

@rcooper9QDTF it happens to some users, there is no real fix: something is replacing your QAT with a default, dig a little deeper to find out why (it could be migrated content, you need to create and load a custom CUIx instead, could be a startup, or add-on, could be a shaky Windows Registry file etc.).

I appreciate the continued, long-lived conversation on this topic. It's February 2022 and I'm also having this intermittent QAT mystery! And no, no idea what could be triggering it ...

Intermittent means you have a trigger you have not had a chance to identify at play. Ask your IT folks to help "watch" your system the next time it happens.

OR.. you can open a support ticket from your Autodesk Account page here https://manage.autodesk.com/home/ (click on the ? icon to start)

This has also been an issue for me since I started using the program 7 years ago. I also tried all these solutions, but nothing worked. It has basically made the QAT a useless feature, so I found other ways to customize my user interface.

Open a support case with Autodesk if you are on subscription to seek out Autodesk Support's help: https://knowledge.autodesk.com/customer-service/account-management/users-software/support-options/we...

If I may add to this thread.

We are incorporating VMs as CAD machines.

Our QAT works fine until the VM goes to lock mode. When you unlock it, the QAT loses most of the toolbars.

A quick workaround that works is to change workspaces and then change back. The QAT comes back as expected.

This issue doesn't happen on a local pc.

I'm working on a virtual machine, too. (Parallels on a Mac, for reasons).

This might be the common link? Thanks for the alternative workaround!

This may or may not help:

I am running CIVIL 3D 2021, and every few days, my QAT loses all of the custom commands, and assigns about 5 that I don't want

Because I have a few dozen custom commands, I saved a custom workspace, and/or a ".cuix" file

When my custom commands disappear, I simply click customize workspace,

go to transfer, and open my file

This allows me to select all of my desired custom commands quickly and easily (on the right side of the window), and then drag them into the QAT (on the left side of the window)

This probably won't help to prevent the commands from disappearing, but it makes restoring them far less of a chore

GOOD LUCK
