<Basic question> PDF Import, scale and measurements.

Hello guys

Im very new to AutoCad so sorry if its a really basic question for you.

I´ve been assigned at work to edit a plot from one auditorium.

The issue i have (or lack of knowledge is) :The plot is in PDF and the scale on the plot is 1:100...

How do I change  the plot scale so when i do measurements its "identical" to those on the plot

Also what kind of measurement is autocad using?(Let´s say that wall on the plot is long 3m and when I  measure it in autocad it shows 118 of I dont know what )

The noted scale is not always correct.  The best approach is to scale the pdf by the noted scale. In your case, by 100.  Then measure an existing pdf dimension to verify its accuracy.  You may wish to measure several dimensions. I suggest the longest vertical and horizontal dimensions.  If those are off, pick the most critical dimension and scale using the scale command's relative scale option.  Of course if the pdf appears to be full size, then start with verifying the dimensions.

When I would get scanned pdfs or pdf's of drawings that lack dimensions I would remember the architectural rule of thumb.  Doorways were 3'0, parking lots 10' and double doors 6'-0" and scale the drawing based off of that.  If I do not believe that the scanned drawing is accurate.  For trying to make a drawing with a scale the correct size I would use:

1. For Engineering Drawings:  The Engineers Toolbox
2. The Architecture:  Archtoolbox 

So for example if your 1:100 it would be 100x12 which would be 1,200

To make sure your are using metric units on the command line type UNITS and select your measure type from the selection found there.
