How to show hidden objects?

When inserted an XREF into a drawing I got the following :

 XREF with garbage.png

The drawing that is referenced looks like this :

 Referenced file.png

Outside the shown area the drawing appears empty. All layers are on.

I managed to make the garbage visible with the setbylayer command without understanding how and can’t reproduce it.

So how can I make everything on the drawing visible such that it can be deleted ?

I’ll probably try to use an earlier version prior to the introduction of the garbage, but I would like to understand what is going on.

Hi @Angayo,

That's a strange issue you're seeing. Is it possible that the display configurations are set up differently in the two drawings?

Could you post the two drawing files so that we can take a look? It'll be easier to figure out what's going on by looking at the drawing files directly.

Hello VStudley,

Yes, it is possible the display configurations are set differently.

I was able to recreate the problem. Here are two files that show it.

Try unfreezing your layers in your base file.  What I see is below.  A few suggestions:

  1. Don't put annotation in your base model files.  Put annotation in your view files.
  2. Don't freeze layers in the base files, especially layer 0 except for just checking.
  3. Don't leave annoautoscale set on.
