Hidden lines

I had inserted a hidden line set at 5 in the current object scale in the Line Type Manager box but when I list the line it shows as hidden but the line still shows as solid.

Sharing a sample file with all the same settings as your problem file will make it easier to sort out the issue here.

  • Is your line drawn in Model Space or Paper Space?
  • Are you viewing it on a Layout tab or on the Model tab?
  • What are the settings for LTSCALE, PSLTSCALE and MSLTSCALE?
  • How long is the line?
  • Is your linetype the out-of-the-box HIDDEN linetype, or a custom dashed linetype?
  • What linear units are you using in your drawing?  (One unit = 1 inch, 1 mm, 1 m, or some other value?)

In addition to David's suggestions, I would recommend never changing the object linetype scale.

Either use the global LTSCALE setting to adjust the display of the linetype ot use a different linetype.

Hi @Anonymous,

Yes, it would be helpful if you could attach your DWG file so that we can analyze it first hand. You can attach it directly to your next post by using the Attachments option below the post editor:

If the files are too large, you could save out a small portion that demonstrates the issue, in order to trim down the file size.

Cool can share what you did. I've found myself in the same problem. I cant even get back to where I set it 5 hidden. I also want to make the line red i'm in 2018 AutoCAD.

Here is an attachment of my drawing as it was suggested. I'm in model space. The is a three lines that I joined together. The lines are representing a bay window in a 2D drawing i'm trying to show as hidden or dashed in red. I believe I'm at 3/32 = 1' but every time I enter the units command to check. It always goes back to 100. I tried apply and okay IDK.

@Anonymous:

I downloaded your drawing and selected everything in Model Space.  Every object's linetype was set to ByLayer.  Every layer's linetype was set to Continuous.  There are no dash-dot-space linetypes to be displayed.2017-08-20_Linetype.png
