First Launch cant find network dwg

Hello All,

ACA 2018 on Windows 10, Dell Precision 7810 Tower.  By habit, I launch my dwg files from windows explorer double click (I know, Old School).

The first drawing I double click to launch ACA tells me the file doesn't exist so ACA starts as Drawing1.  This doesn't happen when I double click a file on my local drive, only network location files.

I have to Use the File Open dialog and scroll to my network location and select the file I want to open, which works.  After that, all files open with my Old School Method.

I have added my network location to the options File Search Paths etc...any ideas?

All,

Just as a follow up due to another issue.  I checked to see if I had an update available and I did.  It is installed and will see after a restart if this clears it up.

Doesn't actually save "*.dwg file is not found in the current location." instead?

Hi Dean,

Here is a screen shot, after restart to see if the update fixed it.  It didn't.

The only work around at this time is to let it launch to Drawing1 and then File Open and search for the network location and select the file.  Some other network drives are missing from this method though.

• What kind of network setup are you running?

Hello all,

I just had my first experience with an "Autodesk Expert" on this issue.  I struggled nearly a week and it was fixed in 30 secs.  Here is the easy solution with full article link as well:

To configure the EnableLinkedConnections registry value

1. Click Start, type regedit in the Start programs and files box, and then press ENTER.

2. Locate and then right-click the registry subkey HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Policies\System.

3. Point to New, and then click DWORD Value.

4. Type EnableLinkedConnections, and then press ENTER.

5. Right-click EnableLinkedConnections, and then click Modify.

6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.

7. Exit Registry Editor, and then restart the computer.
